
Biography
Damiƫn Heemskerk (2002) started playing piano when he was 12. After he soon took lessons with Elly van der Wallen he quickly developed his talent.
He did his bachelor at Codarts Rotterdam with Bart van de Roer as main subject teacher, he finished in 2024.
Since 2024 Damiƫn has been studying the master at NMH in Oslo with Sigurd SlƄttebrekk.

Experience
He already played multiple times with orchestra, among which performances of Willem Pijper's orchestrapiece with piano and Schnittke's concerto for piano and string orchestra in the big hall of de Doelen Rotterdam.
In 2020, his own composition for piano and string orchestra was premiered by chamber orchestra Ars Musica in Rotterdam.
Next to this, he regularly gets to play as a member in the Doelenensemble and in 2024 he was selected to play as young master in the 'Discovery series' at the Naarden International Piano Festival.
Achievements
Moreover Damiƫn won prizes in the princess Christina competition, as well as in the princess Marianne competition and 'Kamermuziek concours Gelre' together with violinist Nina Broeva.
With last mentioned he also won the third and jury prize in the final of 'Ulvenhart klassiek'.
When he finished his bachelor studies in Rotterdam he received the 'Friends of Codarts' stipend, that Codarts awards yearly to one student of the classical department because of special achievements during the (bachelor)studies.

ART FORMS
Aside from music, Damiƫn is very interested in other art forms, like visual arts and literature. He designs and draws often his own concert programs and is always looking for new ways to connect different art forms.
